Last Night @ Thrive: GCC Spring Sampler on Engineering

Hi Thrivers!

Yesterday we had Open Hours from 3-7. Thrivers came in to work on their writing, and talked about coping with unemployment.

At 7 we had the second of our GCC Spring Sampler Series.

First we heard from Herb Hentz, the Director of Admissions at GCC, and he answered a lot of our questions about the school. Did you know that almost all of GCC's programs offer open enrollment? This means that you don't have to compete with other applicants for a spot!

Herb also told us about an exciting new initiative GCC is starting up in collaboration with the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts. GCC recently started up a Food Pantry located on campus which is open to the public as well as to GCC students. If you need to supplement your weekly groceries, go to the Admissions Office on campus and they'll help you get set up.

After we talked with Herb, we got to hear from the co-chair of the Engineering Science department at GCC. She talked about the ins-and-outs of the profession, and explained why GCC's program is so great. Engineering students at GCC can proceed directly to a program at UMass as a third-year student! She left us a ton of great material about the Engineering program, so come in and check it all out.

The third GCC Spring Sampler is coming up on May 18--the head of the Physiology & Anatomy program will be coming by.

Are there any GCC programs you'd like to find out about? Drop in during Open Hours and let us know!
